History was made, and it happened before I turned 40. In fact, as I celebrate this time, I am amazed to think that during the very same year I was born both MLK, Jr. and Bobby Kennedy were killed.
My mentee told me tonight that she finally felt the "Yes, I can" slogan, although like other young women they'd like to see some other barriers come down. Perhaps before I turn 50 there will be a female president?
We shopped, cooked, ate and did some homework review, specifically college entrance essay stuff. Really glad I don't have to compete to get into college with these amazing young kids. It's far easier for me to review stuff than actually do it. :)
